WEST AUSTRALIAN FLORAL ART SOCIETY 2008 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITIONS

The very successful '2008 WA Floral Art Society Inc State Championships for Floral Art competitions were staged at the Heathcote Galleries in Applecross on the 11th & 12th October 2008.

This event included the 'Open Championship' Class as well as monthly society classes (normally staged at the Osborne Park venue) and these classes included 'European Influence Design', 'Beauty of Proteas', 'Italian Layered Design-Vertical', 'Tranquility', as well as Foliage and Members Choice Sections (to view photographs of these designs simply follow that link). .

These competitions not only highlighted the talent of floral designers around this state but also provided an excellent opportunity to promote the WA Floral Art Society and our art form and the response from the general public and our membership was fantastic.

Hundreds of people passed through the doors to view these wonderful displays, with many openly expressing their admiration to the exhibitors for their artistic and creative designing skills - and the many comments recorded in our ‘Guest Book’ is a testament to their appreciation.

Congratulations are extended to everyone who ‘took up the challenge’ and staged designs at these competitions – although only a few are able to receive prizes – the viewing public commented that 'they were all winners for taking the opportunity to compete and enter designs of such a high standard at this prestigious event'.

The 'Official Opening' of this years event was launched by the Patron of our Society Mrs Joan Tonkin who 'congratulate everyone who staged a design at these competitions'.
