'TRAINEE JUDGES PROGRAMME MONTHLY EXAMINATION DESIGNS'

The West Australian Floral Art Society Inc being the recognised state body of floral art in Western Australia trains 'Floral Art Judges' who judge at monthly meetings and other floral art competitions throughout the state.   Judges trained by the West Australian Floral Art Society Inc are acknowledged by the Australian Floral Art Association Inc (AFAA) and the World Association of Flower Arrangers (WAFA) allowing them to judge on a national and international level.

A Trainee Judges Programme has concluded (from 2004- 2006) where Trainee Judges were required to undertake practical and theoretical examinations on a monthly basis, provide demonstrations throughout the year and enter the Members and State Championships for Floral Art competitions.  The following photographs highlight some of the designs staged at monthly meetings.

A selection of photographs from Trainee Judges Examination subjects are : 'Symmetrical Triangle with a Triad Colour Scheme', Symmetrical Triangle''Inverted Crescent''Monochromatic', 'Asymmetrical Triangle Design' 'Period Design'

CRITERIA FOR TRAINEE JUDGES PROGRAMME

(as determined and conducted by the WA Floral Art Society Judges Committee)

Criteria:

Members must have competed and successfully passed through the 'Show Benches', which consist of the ‘Novice’, ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Senior' sections (an approximate 2-3 year period)

Members must have competed in the ‘Open Benches’  for an approximate 12-month period showing a high level of competency.

Members must have entered in a WA Floral Art Society State Championship and WA Floral Art Society Members Championship competitions.

Must be willing to commit to an intensive 2-year ‘Trainee Judges’ programme

A ‘Trainee Judges’ programme can only be undertaken when a group of 6 or more members are prepared to commence this course.

These courses provide wonderful opportunities for the floral designer to gain a wealth of knowledge on many aspects of floral design – from mastering techniques to applying the principles and elements to designs and acknowledging that as floral artists we will continue to learn, pass on knowledge and inspire others.

Members interested in pursuing this course and are able to comply with the above criteria, should offer an ‘expression of interest’ to the Secretary of the ‘Judges Committee’ - Dianne Buckles, 23 Gordon Road West, Dianella WA 6059, for further consideration.
