NATIONAL FLORAL ART SHOW

14th and 18th September 2006

Members of the West Australian Floral Art Society travelled to Canberra to compete in the National Floral Art Seminar and Show presented by the Floral Art Guild of the ACT and held in conjunction with the world renowned  Floriade event.

Floral Designers from all over Australia were treated to a unique experience in having an opportunity to stage their floral designs at the world famous  Floriade event, where thousands of people from around the world were able to view the stunning planted pathways of intricate designs and patterns, inspired by the theme and also view the diverse array of floral exhibits staged at this event.

This year's  Floriade  theme was titled 'Carnivale - the World on Show' with flower beds designed to depict our neighbours from around the World.  With over 1 MILLION stunning blooms including many varieties of tulips, poppies, hyacinths, pansies and other stunning annuals the hundreds of flower beds certainly presented a visual feast of colour, while the 'heady' perfume from these displays also aroused our other senses.

This was a wonderful National Floral Art event where we were able to present our floral designs - further promoting floral art and friendship through flowers to a huge world audience.

Dianne Buckles & Norma Gordon with 'Wattle Necklaces' presented by the AFAA During this seminar two floral designers were acknowledged for their services in helping to determine the'Wattle Necklace' presented to Dianne and Norma from the AFAA new Australian Floral Art Association (AFAA) manual for Floral Art.   Norma Gordon from Tasmania and Dianne Buckles from Western Australia were presented with beautiful 'Wattle Necklaces' in appreciation of their contributions.    (For further information regarding this new AFAA Manual please follow this link).

Designers entering the Impose Class (surprise class) were required to create their designs in full view of an admiring public which created a great deal of interest and appreciation.

The Western Australian members (Eileen Wenn, Jean Shine, Dianne Buckles, Julia Wates,  Valerie Roy, Betty Orr, Joan Boorman and Jan Steele) who staged designs at these competitions are to be congratulated on their outstanding floral exhibits and were a credit to the West Australian Floral Art Society.

Several members were very successful at these competitions including Eileen, Jean and Dianne.
