'NATIONAL BODY FOR FLORAL ART' AUSTRALIAN FLORAL ART ASSOCIATION INC (Incorporated in WA No.. 1004051) The Australian Floral Art Association Inc. is a constituted organisation which is the parent body for floral art in Australia Objects of the Association, Management Committee, Family Tree The Australian Floral Art Association was officially formed on the nineteenth of May, 1976, when delegates from Australian Sates and Territories which were interested informing a national body met in Victoria. Those represented were : Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia
The original name of the national body was Australian Association of Floral Art Judges' Schools. The present name change was made in 1994.
Victoria was the first State to hold management office with Mrs Lois Barnett as chairman.
The Associations' official newsletter bears the Australian floral emblem, Acacia pycanatha. The original cover was designed by the late Mrs Elsie Holden, Queensland, who was the second chairman and worked very hard to raise funds for the Association.
The Australian Association was an inaugural member of the World Association of Flower Arrangers (WAFA). Nearly 30 countries are now members of WAFA. Australia has been represented in various ways at each WAFA show and seminar held. Affiliation is also held with the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, UK (NAFAS).
The inaugural Australian Flower Show, "Art in Floral Splendour", was held in Adelaide, South Australian, in February 1994. The second Australian Flower Show "Floral Rendezvous 2000" was held in Brisbane, Queensland, May 2000 and the 3rd Australian Flower Show was held in Windsor NSW in 2005.
In 1995 an Association badge was stuck. Souvenir spoons and key rings were also produced and carry the AFAA emblem.

A Management Committee is provided in rotation by member States and Territory organisations. The term of office is approximately three years. This committee deals with the day to day running of the Association in accordance with the constitution and resolutions approved by member organisations. The Australian Floral Art Association Inc meets each year. These meetings are hosted by the State and Territory organisations, again in rotation. Many decisions affecting the Australian Association are dealt with at these meetings, others by correspondence or electronically. Each member State and Territory is entitled to two delegates and one observer at all official meetings of the Association. Whilst individuals and affiliated club members do not have direct voting rights at AFAA meetings, these may be exercised at "grass roots" level, at Member organisation meetings, when business relating to the AFAA is being developed and determined. The funds of the Association are used for the promotion of floral art and judging within Australia, and for any international event approved by the Association. Revenue is derived from affiliation fees from the State and Territory members. Donations from these members, their affiliated clubs, and other persons are the major income sources. Sale of Australian Association souvenirs and newsletter provide some revenue and sponsorship is also sought for major events.
