FUNDRAISING GARDEN DAY - Saturday the 27th March 2004 Report compiled by Dianne Buckles
Mass
plantings of roses, some reaching 6 feet tall and emanating delicate fragrances
attracted visitors to these garden beds while the tranquil sounds of water pouring
from ornamental fish lured visitors to the 12 foot long The beautiful weeping willows offered areas of shady retreat for visitors to rest, sip tea and coffee and admire this wonderful property, with our resident Flautist delighting visitors with her enchanting melodies.
Visitors were continually entertained with a variety of talks from members of orchid, fern and gerbera societies who offered informative demonstrations on the successful cultivation of these species.
Fernanda
Cook, a floristry teacher and busy committee member of this society

Other committee members also provided demonstrations ensuring all visitors were afforded opportunities to learn more about flower arranging - helping to promote Floral Art to the wider community and further encouraging 'Friendship Through Flowers'.
Our Librarian, Alison Tweedie offered three innovative designs as examples of 'Structured Elegance'. Alison's demonstrations created much interest and interaction between guests, providing discussion on 'Structures and Constructions'.
The appreciations and applauses directed to Fernanda, Chris and Alison was a true indication of the enjoyment these members afforded those lucky enough to be present at their demonstrations.
Other members who were kept busy on the day were Betty Orr, Joan Boorman, Mary Grayson, Chris Gray, Fernanda Cook, Valerie Roy, Claire Robbins, Pene Dods, Brenda King, Sylvia Hall, Alison Tweedie, Leonie Cherry, Sara Quail, Debbie Skroza, Dianne Buckles, their husbands and partners who helped in areas such as the 'Entrance Area' 'Embroidery Stall', 'Jewellery and Craft Stalls', 'White Elephant Stall', 'Sundry Floral Art Stall', 'Plant Stall', 'Fern Area', 'Cake Stall', 'Afternoon Tea Area', 'Sausage Sizzle' and the 'Bocce Competitions'.

Demonstrators for the Day (L-R) - Debbie Skroza, Dianne Buckles, Val Roy & Joan Boorman
Members of the West Australian Floral Art Society were asked to participate in this community project and provide demonstrations throughout the day promoting our 'Art Form' and society.
This was a wonderful event where members provided demonstrations on a variety of designing styles including Contemporary designs, European designs and large exhibits. Around 14 designs were created to show the public just how enjoyable our art form is and members were delighted to receive such positive feedback from their efforts.
Our most 'Active Senior Member', 86 year old Joan Boorman duplicated her 2nd place award 'suspended design' (State championship) showing how stunning designs can be created with a minimal amount of material.
Congratulations to both Gabrielle and Joan who undertook their duties with much pride and represented our society extremely well.
Other floral designers providing demonstrations throughout the day were Debbie Skroza, Dianne Buckles and Gabrielle's mother, Valerie Roy.
A most enjoyable day - where our society members were able to promote our Art Form and share 'FRIENDSHIP THROUGH FLOWERS'.
