| 2007 WA FLORAL ART SOCIETY INC 'MEMBERS CHAMPIONSHIP'
Incorporating
the
Talented
Tasmanian Floral Designer NORMA
GORDON was our special guest demonstrator
who provided a Demonstration with a 'Green Theme' on Saturday
the 9th June at
the South of Perth Yacht Club
A Workshop was also conducted by Norma on Sunday and the subject was 'Modern Italian Layered Design' - Horizontal' Design . This two day event was a wonderful time where members from this society staged a diverse array of designs - were able to attend a fantastic demonstration and gain a wealth of knowledge from the 'hands on' workshop provided by Norma.
Two members worthy of a 'special mention' who staged designs at these competitions were 'Junior' member, Gabrielle McCuaig (7 1/2 year old) who staged a design in the 'Winter Warmer' section and our 'Senior' member, Joan Boorman (86 years young!) who entered a design in the Members Championship competition. Congratulations to these two special members who are a great inspiration to floral designers around this state.
A most enjoyable and memorable time not only highlighting the talent of floral artists in this state but celebrating the long history of the 'oldest' Floral Art Group in Australia.

N/R’ Exhibits to be ‘viewed from above’. Completed exhibit should not exceed 50cm x 50cm.
Definition
(extracted from the AFAA Manual): This term is most commonly
associated with jewellery but when used in floral design refers to the placing
of materials close together, with no spaces in between, to form a pattern or
covering to the container area. Small carnations, roses, berries, seed pods, succulents, shells, stones etc. are grouped and arranged in a jewel-like design or cobblestone pattern. This design must be kept low. Contrasting colours and textures create interest.

Definition (extracted from the AFAA Manual): A very small design, 7.5cm to 10cm overall (height, width and depth). It is the reproduction of any style of design in a much smaller size. Scale is the most important Principle of Design in relation to all components used.
