Class B MEMBERS CHAMPIONSHIP 'B'
Class
B ‘Table Arrangement’ and was restricted to members
currently exhibiting in the Novice, Intermediate or Senior Sections.
The winner of this design was Chris
Gray who created a stunning design using the multi coloured anthuriums
(pistachio), pale pink and cream roses, small green chrysanthemums, and a
variety of leaves and ferns.
The
2 floral designs used in this setting incorporated a variety of ‘European
Techniques’ including grouping, sheltering and layering, with plant
materials inserted into moss covered floral foam and nestled delicately on the
large ‘Tractor Seat’ foliage. Anthuriums
and leaves were used in a layered effect with little or no space between them to
gain bulk and texture providing impact - with several of the large ‘Tractor
Seat’ leaves used to create a canopy above other horticultural materials.
The use of the delicate Asparagus fern interspersed throughout the
designs and cascading over the table suggested a romantic theme. The
two designs were linked using narrow foliage. The principles and elements of floral design were well executed in this exhibit with accessories harmonising well to produce a unified effect. A gold satin cloth provided a base colour with another sheer covering of gold organza complementing the colours of the anthuriums. To complete the overall design and continue the horticultural theme through Chris placed mushrooms nesting on piles of Alf alpha.
