WA FLORAL ART SOCIETY INC '2004 CHRISTMAS MEETING'

Our special Christmas Meeting was a wonderful afternoon where members, fellow floral artists from other clubs, family and friends joined together to share this day, which was filled with a flourish of friendship, flowers and fun.

Our Christmas and June ‘At Home’ meetings provide this Society with the prefect opportunity to open our doors, encouraging interaction with other clubs and welcome guests to spend time with members of this society. A wonderful display of designs greeted our visitors and guests providing a wonderful exhibition and highlighting the creative talent of floral artists in Western Australia.

Visitors offered appreciative comments to members on their floral expertise, their hospitality, friendly meeting, excellent demonstration and wonderful afternoon tea.  Congratulations to the competitors who created the stunning table settings in the CHRISTMAS TABLE ARRANGEMENT’, this class certainly attracted much interest and admiration. Congratulations to VALERIE ROY who was awarded the 1st PLACE with her beautiful table setting in colours of mauve and blue.   The 2nd place was awarded to Chris Gray and the 3rd place to Pene Dods. These innovative table settings certainly created a  ‘focal area’ in the competitive classes and together with the other bench designs provided a beautiful display for everyone to admire and enjoy.

This meeting saw EILEEN WENN providing the special Christmas demonstration titled FLOWERS IN CHRISTMAS SONG’. Eileen presented a fantastic demonstration with stunning designs representing songs such as : All I Want for Christmas, Blue Christmas Without You, Let It Snow, Silent Night, I’ll be Home for Christmas and It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.

Eileen’s wonderful demonstration commenced with the creation of a horticultural ‘Christmas Pressie’.  Her final design of a ‘Front Door’ complete with a large ‘Christmas Wreath’ and 2 structured Christmas Trees, placed in large terracotta pots either side of the door, brought this demonstration from a truly gifted floral designer to a close.

Mrs Joan Tonkin MBE, our dedicated Society Patron, provided and presented the annual ‘Patrons Award’ which was won this year by Jane Merralls for her design staged in the Novice Section titled 'Fun With Angels'

A wonderful meeting further promoting floral art in Western Australia and 'Friendship Through Flowers'.
