| WA FLORAL ART SOCIETY INC 'AT HOME' 2005 Meeting
The West Australian Floral Art Society Inc held a very successful floral afternoon on Saturday the 11th June 2005, where invitations were extended to floral art clubs, fellow flower arrangers, guests, family and friends to share in a special mid year meeting titled 'AT HOME'. The staging of the Societies annual Members Championship competitions were also conducted during this meeting providing a 'Floral Feast' of textures, forms, patterns and colours showcasing the floral talents of members from this Society.
A special demonstration was conducted during the 'At Home' meeting by talented Floral Designer Debbie Skroza - The title of Debbie's demonstration was 'COMMUNITY' (see report detailed below) Demonstrator Debbie Skroza - title of Demonstration 'COMMUNITY' - 'Youth'
Members and visitors were captivated by this demonstration where Debbie took us on a journey offering an insight into the numerous areas within the Community that she encounters in her employment. Stunning exhibits featuring a variety of techniques and styles represented areas such as 'Youth, Seniors, Aged Care, Family, Carers, Multi-Cultural & Disabilities. Everyone was treated to a diverse array of designs including an elegant traditional, several sculptural designs, constructions, contemporary creations and her finale was a large suspended exhibit incorporating large pieces of entwined driftwood.
Debbie gave members a greater understanding of the important services and support role Debbie, her staff and groups of volunteers are able to offer people, families and groups throughout our Community – Very worthwhile services that many of us may eventually have to make contact with sometime in our lives.
Debbie’s
first design introduced the area of ‘Youth’, which was represented by a
‘life size’ children’s slide decorated in a fanciful manner incorporating
Another of Debbie’s designs reflected the ‘Multi-cultural’ community and her ‘oversized’ ‘noodle bowl’ complete with bamboo chop sticks, capsicums, cabbage and snow peas created a wonderful design and had many of us reflecting on our happy times in Japan.
A wonderful demonstration that appealed to all members.
